Abermule in Powys, Wales is a small riverside village where the River Mule meets the River Severn, a geography that gives the place its name and offers pleasant river scenery. It sits between Newtown and Welshpool in a largely agricultural part of mid-Wales, with much of the local economy based on farming and a number of residents who commute to nearby towns; the Cambrian Line still runs through the area, although the local station closed in the 20th century.
The community is typical of rural Powys, with local amenities such as a village hall, pub and primary school and an active community life centred on traditional events and outdoor pursuits. Abermule is also remembered historically as the scene of the 1921 rail crash, an event that remains part of the village’s story while it continues to balance quiet country living with links to larger centres.
