Welshpool Llanerchyddol is a ward covering the northern part of the market town of Welshpool in Powys, Wales. It sits close to the River Severn and the remnants of the Montgomery Canal, mixing compact town streets with suburban and semi-rural fringes and benefitting from rail links on the Cambrian Line and roads towards the English border.
Economically the area combines town-centre shops and small businesses with agricultural activity on the outskirts, while tourism linked to nearby Powis Castle and the canal heritage gives a seasonal lift. The ward reflects the town’s long market-town history, with Georgian and Victorian architecture, active community groups and local facilities, and is represented on Powys County Council as part of Welshpool’s civic life.
