Bronington is a small, rural community in the north-east of Wrexham, close to the English border in Wales. It sits in the area known as the English Maelor, historically an exclave of Flintshire, and is characterised by gentle farmland, hedgerows and scattered villages rather than a single large settlement.
The most striking local feature is the expanse of peatland and wet heath nearby, notably Fenn's, Whixall and Bettisfield Mosses, a nationally important lowland bog and wildlife stronghold that reflects the area’s history of peat extraction and ongoing conservation work. Economically and socially the community remains largely agricultural with a close-knit village life, while many residents commute into Wrexham or neighbouring Cheshire for work and services.
