Sharnbrook is a sizeable village and civil parish in the Borough of Bedford, in Bedfordshire, lying on the north–west fringe of the town and long enough to feel both rural and commuter-friendly. It retains a historic core with an old parish church and a number of listed buildings, while more recent expansion has brought modern housing and a well-regarded secondary school, Sharnbrook Academy, that draws pupils from across the area. The local economy was traditionally agricultural but now leans towards services and commuting, helped by good road links to Bedford, the M1 corridor and further afield to Milton Keynes and London. Community life is active with village clubs, pubs and countryside walking routes that make the parish popular with families and people seeking village amenities within easy reach of larger towns.
