Wilden is a small, largely rural civil parish on the outskirts of Bedford in Bedfordshire, characterised by arable fields, hedgerows and a scattering of farmhouses and cottages. Quiet country lanes and nearby river valleys make it popular with walkers and anyone after a slice of countryside close to the town, while being administratively part of the Borough of Bedford.
Historically the area has been agricultural and that remains the dominant land use, with a handful of older buildings hinting at its past. Community life is low-key rather than village-centred, with parish meetings, local conservation activity and many residents commuting into Bedford for work or services while enjoying a rural lifestyle.
