The civil parish of New Frankley sits on the south‑west edge of Birmingham, tucked against the Worcestershire boundary and close to Frankley Reservoir. Much of the area developed as a planned residential estate in the late 20th century and was shaped by boundary changes that brought former Worcestershire territory into the city.
Today New Frankley is chiefly residential, with local shops, schools, a parish council and active community groups, and a mix of council and private housing. Many residents commute into central Birmingham or to nearby employment centres such as Longbridge, while the nearby reservoir and countryside give the neighbourhood a slightly semi‑rural feel that colours local leisure and green‑space initiatives.
