Kearsley is a township on the edge of Bolton in Greater Manchester, historically part of Lancashire. It sits between the urban sweep of Bolton and the greener high ground of the surrounding moors, giving it a mix of suburban streets and easy access to nearby countryside.
The area grew up in the 19th century around mills, coal and chemical works, and traces of that industrial past remain alongside modern housing and light industry. Today Kearsley has a strong local community with clubs and churches, decent commuter links into Manchester, and outdoor attractions close by, notably the hills and reservoirs of the West Pennine Moors.
