Farnworth is a small town within the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton in Greater Manchester, historically part of Lancashire. It sits a few miles south‑east of Bolton town centre and within easy commuting distance of Manchester, with the rolling uplands of the West Pennine Moors not far to the west.
The town grew up around 19th‑century coal and textile industries, and you can still see Victorian terraces and former mill buildings mixed with more modern housing. Today Farnworth is largely residential with local shops, community organisations and transport links into the regional centres; its identity is shaped by that industrial past alongside ongoing regeneration and a strong local community spirit.
