Radcliffe is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Bury in Greater Manchester, historically part of Lancashire. It sits by the River Irwell and on the edge of the Irwell Valley, with handy access to riverside walking and green space at Burrs Country Park.
Historically a hub of cotton mills, bleaching and coal mining during the Industrial Revolution, Radcliffe still shows its industrial past in surviving mill buildings and the fragment of the medieval Radcliffe Tower. Today it mixes light industry and local shops with a largely residential, commuter population served by the Manchester Metrolink to Manchester, and retains an active community life shaped by its working‑class and industrial heritage.
