Kearsley is a ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton, Greater Manchester, in England, lying in the valley of the River Irwell between Bolton and Manchester. The ward combines rows of Victorian terraces and later suburban housing with pockets of green space along the river and canal corridors, reflecting its riverside setting and easy road and rail links into the regional centres.
Historically the area was shaped by coal mining, cotton mills and associated industries, and that industrial legacy is still visible in former mill buildings and transport infrastructure. Today the ward is largely residential with a commuter profile, local shops, community groups and a modest cultural life centred on village high streets and parks, while the river and towpaths are popular for walking and informal recreation.
