Moordown

Moordown is an electoral ward of the unitary authority of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole in England, sitting to the north of Bournemouth town centre. Traditionally an area of heath and common land, it expanded during the late 19th and early 20th centuries and today is largely residential, with a mixture of Victorian and inter‑war housing, local shops and pockets of green space and playing fields that hint at its moorland past.

The ward has a strong local community feel, with community centres, independent pubs and small businesses serving families and older residents. Good bus links provide easy access into the wider conurbation and the seafront, while its history as a suburban expansion gives Moordown a quieter, more settled character compared with Bournemouth’s busier coastal neighbourhoods.
