Childerley is a tiny, largely agricultural parish in the district of South Cambridgeshire, a few miles to the west of Cambridge. It is made up of the small hamlets of Great Childerley and Little Childerley, with no single village centre and a very low population spread across farms and historic houses.
The landscape is characteristically Cambridgeshire - open arable fields, hedgerows and lanes - and the area bears traces of earlier settlement and estate activity in the form of old farm buildings and earthworks. Economically and socially it is quiet and rural, with residents generally looking to nearby villages and the city for shops, schools and services, and the parish is valued for its tranquillity and access to countryside walking close to urban Cambridge.
