Hinxton is a small village and civil parish in South Cambridgeshire, Cambridgeshire, England, a few miles south of Cambridge and close to neighbouring villages such as Duxford and Ickleton. The settlement retains a compact, rural character of cottages, farmland and a medieval parish church, while enjoying good links into the wider Cambridge area and the research and university clusters beyond.
The most striking local feature is Hinxton Hall, an elegant country house whose grounds now host the Wellcome Sanger Institute, giving the village an international scientific and economic profile in genomics and biomedical research. Despite that modern presence, village life remains centred on community activities, local footpaths and the surrounding Cambridgeshire countryside, with nearby attractions such as the Imperial War Museum at Duxford bringing occasional visitors.
