Flitwick is a compact civil parish and market town in Central Bedfordshire, England, sitting beside the meandering River Flit in the low-lying clay of the Marston Vale. Historically a small medieval settlement, it grew noticeably in the 19th century with the arrival of the railway and local brickworks, and you can still see a historic core around All Saints Church alongside later suburban housing.
The parish has an unexpectedly green character: Flitwick Moor is a recognised nature reserve and SSSI, while the town’s good rail links from Flitwick railway station to Bedford and London St Pancras have made it a popular commuter base. Local life mixes small shops, sports clubs and community events with light industry and the legacy of the brickmaking era, giving the place a blend of village friendliness and easy access to larger centres such as Milton Keynes.
