The civil parish of Saughall and Shotwick Park lies on the north‑western edge of Cheshire within Cheshire West and Chester in England, skirting the salt marshes of the Dee Estuary and a short distance from the city of Chester. The landscape is a mix of agricultural fields, grazing marsh and coastal habitats, which makes the area popular with walkers and birdwatchers who visit the estuary and its tidal flats.
Historically the parish has rural and medieval roots - the remains of Shotwick Castle and scattered farmsteads speak to that past - but today its economy blends farming with a sizeable commuter population who work in Chester or on Deeside. Locally there is a strong village community with social activities centred on the village hall, churches and pubs, and ongoing interest in landscape and wildlife conservation.
