Sealand sits on reclaimed low-lying marshland beside the estuary of the River Dee in northeast Flintshire, close to the border with England and within easy reach of Chester. The flat, sea-walled landscape and salt marshes give it a distinctive coastal character, and the area is notable for the former military presence at RAF Sealand and for links to nearby industrial settlements such as Shotton.
Today Sealand is a mix of commuter housing and industrial activity as part of the broader Deeside economy, with manufacturing and logistics on the Deeside Industrial Park alongside local community clubs and village halls. The estuary and marshes are important for birdlife, and nearby attractions in Hawarden and along the Dee add historical and recreational interest.
