Carharrack is a small village in the heart of west Cornwall, located in the historic mining parish of Gwennap and close to Redruth. It grew up in the 19th century around copper and tin workings, and the surrounding countryside still shows engine houses, spoil heaps and other visible reminders of that industrial past.
Today Carharrack is largely residential with a strong community spirit and local clubs, while walkers and history enthusiasts use nearby paths to explore the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape UNESCO World Heritage Site; the village balances its industrial heritage with rural views and fairly easy access to other parts of west Cornwall.
