The ward covers the villages of Lanner, Stithians and Gwennap in Cornwall, England. It sits amid rolling farmland and remnant mining country between Redruth and Truro, with iconic granite engine houses and spoil heaps that recall the area's 18th–19th century metal‑mining boom. Stithians Reservoir is a local focus for sailing, birdwatching and walks, and the annual Stithians Show draws large crowds from across Cornwall.
Gwennap is especially notable historically for being at the heart of Cornwall’s copper era - the parish was once described as the "richest square mile" - and the semicircular Gwennap Pit, associated with John Wesley’s open‑air preaching, remains a striking landmark. Today the communities retain strong village life with halls, clubs and local businesses, a mix of farming, tourism and commuting to nearby centres such as Camborne and Truro.
