Illogan is a village and civil parish in west Cornwall, set just to the north of Redruth and close to the Camborne-Redruth conurbation. It occupies higher ground above the north coast and sits within easy reach of Tehidy Country Park and the coastal village of Portreath, giving it a mix of rural woodland and sweeping views across the former mining landscape to the sea.
Historically the parish was shaped by tin and copper mining and the close-knit, chapel-centred communities that sprang up around that industry; the area forms part of the broader Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage context. Today Illogan is largely residential with local pubs, village halls and strong community activity, while Tehidy and nearby remnants of industrial archaeology make it a popular spot for walkers and anyone interested in Cornwall’s mining past.
