Penryn in Cornwall, England is a compact historic port town on the tidal estuary of the River Fal, just upstream from Falmouth. Its narrow streets and Georgian façades reflect centuries of maritime trade, granite and shipbuilding wealth, and much of the town centre is a designated conservation area with a pleasant quayside and a strong sense of local history.
In recent years Penryn has taken on a more collegiate and creative character thanks to the Penryn Campus, shared by Falmouth University and the University of Exeter, which brought students, galleries, cafés and small creative businesses; alongside independent shops, pubs and music venues the town retains a lively community feel and easy access to Cornwall’s coastal paths and boating on the estuary.
