On the far-western tip of the Penwith peninsula in Cornwall, the trio of St Buryan, Lamorna and Paul occupies a landscape of rugged granite headlands, sheltered coves and mixed farmland. Lamorna Cove in particular is a tiny picturesque inlet that attracted an artists' colony in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and the area forms part of Cornwall’s coastal walking routes and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The settlements combine a long history - from prehistoric sites and early Christian foundations to medieval parish life - with a modern economy built on tourism, arts, small-scale farming and local fishing. St Buryan still centres on its large parish church and village community, while Paul retains a strong village character and close ties to nearby fishing harbours, giving the area a distinctive maritime and cultural feel.
