Tintagel is a small coastal parish on the rugged north coast of Cornwall in England, sitting on headlands and cliffs above a string of coves and beaches. The dramatic shoreline includes the famous sea cave known as Merlin's Cave and is crossed by the South West Coast Path, making the landscape as important to visitors as the village itself.
The area is best known for the romantic ruins of Tintagel Castle and its long association with Arthurian legend, alongside archaeological evidence for a high-status early medieval settlement. Today the local economy is heavily seasonal and driven by tourism, with a small year-round community, galleries, cafés and a strong sense of local identity rooted in fishing, farming and heritage.
