The adjacent villages of Breaston and Draycott sit in the Borough of Erewash in south‑east Derbyshire, England, roughly between Derby and Nottingham. They lie close to the floodplain of the River Derwent and the Church Wilne reservoir and nature reserve, and benefit from good road links via the A52 and the M1, which makes them popular with commuters to nearby towns and cities.
Both villages have a visible industrial past - framework knitting, lace and small mills shaped the 18th–19th century economy and some mill buildings and terraces survive or have been converted - while historic parish churches and village greens hint at earlier agricultural roots. Today the area combines local shops, light industry and active community life (pubs, clubs and conservation groups), with outdoor recreation at Church Wilne and quick access to the wider amenities of Derby and Nottingham.
