Hadfield is a small town in the borough of High Peak, Derbyshire, England, lying in the narrow valley of Longdendale beside the River Etherow. The town sits on the western fringe of the Peak District and is visually dominated by the chain of Longdendale reservoirs and the nearby engineering landmark of the Woodhead Tunnel, vestiges of 19th‑century infrastructure that helped shape the area.
Historically Hadfield grew as an industrial community around mills and engineering works; today it combines local services and small businesses with a sizeable commuter population served by the Glossop rail link into Manchester. The location makes it popular with walkers and cyclists using reservoir and valley trails, while a compact village centre, clubs and community events give it a strong local identity.
