Broadbottom is a compact village in the borough of Tameside, Greater Manchester, England, sitting in the wooded valley of the River Etherow at the edge of Longdendale. Its position on the fringe of the Peak District gives it a pleasantly rural feel despite being within commuting distance of Manchester, with easy access to reservoirs, walking trails and countryside scenery.
The village grew up around 19th‑century textile mills on the river and a number of former mill buildings and bridges remain, many now converted to housing or small businesses. A lively local community is supported by village amenities and the small station at Broadbottom railway station, which reinforces its role as a quiet residential and historical pocket within the wider urban area.
