Drakelow is a small civil parish in South Derbyshire, Derbyshire, in the East Midlands of England, lying on the low-lying floodplain of the River Trent close to the Staffordshire border and only a few miles from Burton upon Trent. The landscape is largely rural, a patchwork of arable fields, pasture and small woodlands, and its setting by the river has influenced local land use and occasional flood-management work.
Historically the area centred on a country house and traditional farming and later developed an industrial edge with a former power station that long served as a local landmark; today the local economy mixes agriculture, light industry and commuter households who travel to nearby towns. With a small, dispersed population Drakelow retains a quiet, village-like character and relies on neighbouring settlements for most shops, schools and community facilities.
