Heavitree is an inner suburb and electoral ward to the east of Exeter in Devon, England. It occupies a stretch of older streets and terraces along routes out of the city, with a busy high street of shops, pubs and cafés, some small green spaces and good bus links into the centre.
Once a separate village before being swallowed by Exeter, Heavitree has a strong local identity: its name is reputed to refer to a medieval “head tree” and the area later hosted a notable local brewery. Today the ward is mixed and residential, with long‑standing neighbourhoods, local schools, community groups and independent businesses contributing to a lively, working community rather than a commuter dormitory.
