Instow is a small coastal village in North Devon, Devon, England, sitting on the estuary of the River Taw opposite Appledore. It has a long sand-and-shingle beach and shallow tidal waters that make it popular for windsurfing, sailing and paddle sports, with wide estuary views and easy access to walking and cycling routes such as the South West Coast Path and the Tarka Trail.
Historically a modest port and Victorian holiday settlement, Instow now leans on tourism, boating and holiday accommodation for much of its local economy, while retaining a close-knit community vibe with seasonal regattas, local markets and a mix of permanent residents and holiday homeowners. The converted railway and surrounding countryside add to its appeal for walkers and birdwatchers as well as watersports enthusiasts.
