Martinhoe is a small, remote coastal parish on the north coast of Devon, tucked on the edge of Exmoor and famed for its rocky cliffs, wooded combes and stretches of dramatic coastline. The South West Coast Path runs through the area and the tiny sheltered inlet of Woody Bay provides a focus for walkers and history buffs, with the restored station of the old Lynton & Barnstaple Railway nearby.

Historically an agricultural community clustered around the old St Martin's Church, the local economy has shifted towards tourism and holiday lets while retaining a close-knit village feel and active conservation interest. Neighbouring settlements such as Combe Martin provide services, but many visitors come simply for the peace, wildlife and unspoilt coastal scenery that mark this corner of North Devon.
