Abbotsham is a compact rural village in the district of Torridge, Devon, lying a few miles northwest of Bideford and within easy reach of the North Devon coast at Westward Ho!. The parish is characterised by rolling farmland, hedgerow‑lined lanes and stone cottages, and it attracts walkers and visitors exploring nearby coastal paths and long-distance routes such as the Tarka Trail.
Its name hints at medieval ecclesiastical links and the area still contains historic manor houses and longstanding farmsteads. Agriculture remains important to the local economy, supplemented by tourism and commuting to nearby towns, while community life revolves around a village hall, the local church and small volunteer groups typical of rural North Devon.
