Denaby is a civil parish on the edge of the borough centred on Denaby Main and the older, quieter settlement of Old Denaby, lying within Doncaster in South Yorkshire. The parish occupies a transitional landscape where former industrial terraces meet river valleys and farmland, with the River Don and nearby towns such as Conisbrough shaping local connections and daily life.
The area is best known for its coal‑mining heritage: a 19th‑century colliery created a distinctive pit‑village community whose rows of terraced houses, social clubs and civic memory still mark the place. Since the decline of deep mining the parish has seen social and economic change, with local regeneration, grassroots community activity and green corridors reclaiming former industrial ground; historic landmarks such as Conisbrough Castle and rural lanes also make it a mix of industrial history and lingering village character.
