Ferndown North is the northern ward of Ferndown in Dorset, sitting on the gravel plateaus and pockets of lowland heath north of the River Stour. It is largely residential, with a mix of post‑war and later housing, local shops and community amenities; many residents commute to nearby Bournemouth and Poole, while small businesses, retail and care services make up much of the local economy.
Culturally the ward reflects Ferndown’s quieter, middle‑class character, with active community groups, sports clubs and easy access to greenspace - nearby areas such as Moors Valley and local golf courses are popular for walking and outdoor pursuits. The town’s 20th‑century growth out of heathland gives the area a mix of planned streets and remnant commons, and demographic indicators tend to show an older population and relatively low crime compared with national averages.
