West Parley is a village and civil parish in Dorset, positioned on the northern edge of the Bournemouth–Poole conurbation close to Ferndown and the River Stour. It occupies a low-lying stretch of the Stour valley with patches of heathland and commons nearby, offering easy access to the New Forest and the Dorset coast while still feeling semi-rural.
Originally an agricultural settlement centred on its historic parish church, the area expanded through the 20th century into a largely residential commuter community with local shops, a village hall and active parish groups. Many residents commute to Bournemouth, Poole or nearby business parks, and the mix of river corridor, heath and suburban streets gives West Parley a quieter character valued by families and retirees, with walking and conservation interest close at hand.
