West Parley is a village and civil parish on the northern edge of the Bournemouth–Poole urban area in Dorset, sitting between Bournemouth and Ferndown. It lies close to the River Stour and the heathland of Parley Common, so the ward combines suburban streets with accessible open countryside and popular walking routes.
Historically an agricultural settlement that expanded in the 20th century, the area now has a village centre with shops, a primary school and active community groups, while many residents commute to nearby towns for work. Conservation of the commons and local green spaces is a notable feature, giving the place a semi-rural feel despite good road links to surrounding employment and leisure centres.
