Whitchurch Canonicorum is a small, rural village and parish in west Dorset, England, set in rolling farmland a few miles inland from the Jurassic Coast. It sits between coastal towns such as Lyme Regis and Bridport, making it a quiet base for walkers exploring the coast and Dorset countryside rather than a busy tourist hub.
The village is best known for its medieval church of St Candida and Holy Cross, which unusually still houses the shrine of Saint Wite and surviving relics - a rare survival of England’s medieval pilgrimage culture. Today the local economy is largely agricultural with a dash of heritage-driven tourism, and the community retains a small, close-knit feel with village events and traditional rural life continuing to shape social life.
