The tiny rural parish of Pilsdon sits in west Dorset, close to the Somerset border and not far from Beaminster. It occupies rolling farmland and hedged lanes typical of the Marshwood Vale, with a handful of farms, cottages and a small historic manor at its heart.
A nearby high point, Pilsdon Hill, gives panoramic views over the surrounding countryside and draws walkers; the landscape bears traces of ancient earthworks and a long agricultural past. Today the local economy is overwhelmingly agricultural, with a little tourism, holiday accommodation and retreat activity supplementing village life, which centres on the church and occasional community events.
