Kelleythorpe

Built-up area in East Riding of Yorkshire, England

Coordinates:53.995, -0.464
OS grid ref:TA 00 56
Dialling code: 01377 (Driffield)

Kelleythorpe is a small hamlet a couple of miles west of the market town of Driffield in the East Riding of Yorkshire, set on the edge of the rolling Yorkshire Wolds. It sits close to the A614 and feels very rural, with the surrounding landscape dominated by farmland and gentle chalk hills that are popular with walkers and cyclists from nearby towns.

Although tiny, Kelleythorpe has a modest commercial side - a small industrial estate and a grass airstrip nearby - and sits near the site of the wartime aerodrome associated with RAF Driffield, so there’s a hint of aviation history alongside the agricultural economy. Socially it’s typical of East Riding hamlets: quiet, community-minded and closely linked to the services and markets of nearby Driffield.
