Leven is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire in England, set on the eastern fringe of the Yorkshire Wolds with easy access to the Yorkshire coast around Hornsea and the market towns of Beverley and Kingston upon Hull. Its setting, where rolling chalk hills meet low-lying agricultural plains, offers good walking and birdwatching, and features like the small Leven Canal reflect the area's long history of land drainage and local transport.
Historically an agricultural community with medieval roots, Leven grew modestly in the 19th and 20th centuries and today combines farming with commuter households who work in nearby towns while retaining local shops, pubs and active village organisations. It has the quiet, rural character of a traditional East Riding settlement and a strong community spirit, with easy access to both Wolds countryside and coastal attractions.
