Wetwang is a small village in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, set on the rolling chalk of the Yorkshire Wolds a few miles from the market town of Driffield. The surrounding landscape is agricultural and popular for countryside walks, with the village itself sitting amid farms, hedgerows and narrow lanes rather than industry.
Its name is famously odd and debated - most place‑name scholars favour an Old Norse or Old English origin meaning something like "wet field" - and the locality is notable for nearby archaeological finds, including Iron Age remains at Wetwang Slack. Today Wetwang retains a small, rural community character, sustained largely by farming, local services and commuting, with a village pub and occasional community events reflecting traditional Wolds life.
