Glynde is a small village and civil parish just off the River Ouse in the district of Lewes, in East Sussex. Nestled at the foot of the South Downs, it occupies low-lying river valley and chalk downland countryside popular for walking and riding; the village is served by a small local railway halt providing easy links into Lewes and the surrounding towns.
The settlement is centred around the historic Glynde Place estate, an old manor with parkland and listed buildings, and the local economy still reflects estate farming alongside a modest visitor trade. Culturally it benefits from the proximity of the Glyndebourne opera house and the annual festival, while retaining a quiet, close-knit rural community with a church, village pub and traditional Sussex character.
