Brede is a village and civil parish in the Rother district of East Sussex, England, set in the valley of the River Brede a few miles inland from the south coast between Rye and Hastings. The parish occupies a mix of riverine meadows, farmland and woodland, giving a distinctly rural feel despite its proximity to larger towns.
Brede is notable for its historic buildings and landscape: a medieval parish church and the timbered manor Brede Place reflect a long local history, while the river plain still shows the imprint of past water management and milling. Today the area remains largely agricultural with a small, active community, local amenities and footpaths that attract walkers and naturalists exploring the valley and nearby woods.
