Guestling is a small rural civil parish in the district of Rother, East Sussex, lying on the low coastal plain a couple of miles inland from the English Channel between Hastings and Winchelsea. The parish combines gently rolling farmland, small pockets of woodland and lanes linking dispersed hamlets such as Guestling Green, with the low-lying marshes and shingle of the nearby coast giving the area a distinct mix of agricultural and coastal character.
Historically the settlement has medieval roots and retains an old parish church and traditional village buildings; coastal trade and smuggling are part of the local folklore. Today it remains largely agricultural but with a significant commuter presence to nearby towns, a lively village community life centred on the hall and the pub, and an increasing interest in conservation because of its proximity to important wetland and coastal habitats.
