Chelwood Common is a small rural hamlet in the district of Wealden, in East Sussex, England. It sits within the wooded, rolling landscape of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and lies close to Ashdown Forest, with commons, hedgerows and small woodlands giving it a distinctly countryside feel.
Historically the common supported woodland industries such as coppicing and charcoal making and the pattern of old tracks, ponds and scattered cottages still hints at that past; today the area is largely residential and agricultural with conservation interests, occasional country houses and a small local community that congregates around the pub or village hall and uses the landscape for walking and outdoor recreation.
