Banstead

Banstead is a town in the borough of Reigate and Banstead in Surrey, England, sitting on the chalk slopes of the North Downs about 15 miles south of central London. It’s backed by open countryside such as Banstead Downs, a well-known stretch of chalk grassland long associated with horse training and informal recreation, and the settlement has medieval roots though it expanded notably with 19th- and 20th-century commuter growth.

Today Banstead feels like a comfortable suburban centre with a busy high street of independent shops, pubs and cafés, good local schools and leisure facilities; the local economy is largely service- and commuter-oriented.
