Sharpthorne is a small village in the Mid Sussex district of West Sussex, England, forming part of the civil parish of West Hoathly. It sits in the rolling, wooded countryside of the High Weald, close to the preserved steam line of the Bluebell Railway and the notable Sharpthorne Tunnel, and is not far from the larger market town of East Grinstead.
The area has the quietly layered history of the Weald - former ironworking and agricultural landscape - but today is largely residential, popular with walkers, railway enthusiasts and commuters to nearby towns and Gatwick or London. Local life retains a village feel, with nearby attractions such as National Trust house Standen and the gardens at Sheffield Park drawing visitors while community events and rural footpaths keep a strong local social fabric.
