Windmill Hill is a small, elevated locality in the district of Wealden in East Sussex, England. Perched where the wooded clay of The Weald gives way to the chalk ridges looking towards the South Downs, it comprises open farmland, hedgerows and copses and offers the kind of long rural views typical of the county.
Its name recalls the windmills that once operated on the ridge; today the area is predominantly agricultural with mixed farms, a strong interest in landscape and wildlife conservation, and a network of public footpaths used by walkers and birdwatchers. Socially it feels like much of rural Sussex - small hamlets and village communities, local events and modest rural tourism rather than heavy industry.
