Great Totham is a small village and civil parish in the district of Maldon, Essex, England, lying on gentle ridges and rolling farmland a short distance inland from the Blackwater Estuary. The settlement is fairly dispersed, with two main clusters of homes and lanes surrounded by arable fields, paddocks and public footpaths, giving long views across the surrounding countryside.
Historically agricultural, Great Totham retains a village character with a parish church, village hall, pubs, a primary school and local sports clubs, while many residents now commute to nearby towns such as Chelmsford and Colchester or further afield to London. There are several listed buildings and an active community calendar, so village life combines historic roots with a modern, outward-looking social and economic mix.
