Wickham Bishops is a small village and civil parish in the district of Maldon, Essex, England. Sitting on the edge of low-lying arable countryside with views towards the River Blackwater, it’s a short drive from the market town of Maldon and not far from Witham, with good road links into Chelmsford and Colchester.
The village has medieval roots - its name reflects historical episcopal ownership - and retains a strong community feel with a parish church, village hall, pubs and local shops alongside farming and small businesses. Today Wickham Bishops is largely residential and commuter-friendly, but still attracts walkers and birdwatchers looking for quiet Essex countryside close to larger towns.
