Lawford is a village and civil parish in the district of Tendring, in the county of Essex, England. It sits just west of the market town of Manningtree and close to the Suffolk border, with the floodplain of the River Stour nearby; the landscape mixes riverside lowlands and arable countryside and gives easy access to larger centres such as Colchester.
Historically an agricultural settlement with links to river trade, Lawford is now largely residential with local shops, a primary school, a village hall and sports clubs, and a strong community feel. Many residents commute to Colchester, Ipswich or even London, but the village still shows pockets of older cottages and a parish church, so it balances rural heritage with modern commuter life.
