Little Clacton is a small village and civil parish in the Tendring district of Essex, set on the gentle hinterland of the Tendring Peninsula a short distance inland from the resort of Clacton-on-Sea. Its landscape is a mix of farmland, lanes and pockets of older housing, with easy access to coastal marshes and estuarine habitats nearby, including parts of the Colne Estuary, which attract walkers and birdwatchers.
Historically a rural farming community, Little Clacton now combines local agriculture and small businesses with a role as a quieter place to live for people working in the nearby towns. The village retains a village hall, church and traditional cottages, and the social life tends to be community-focused with local events, pubs and clubs reflecting its small‑scale, neighbourly character rather than the hustle of the adjacent seaside town.
